Dr. Tram K. Tran-Johnson: is Director of Research at CNRI San Diego. She has been Principal Investigator in over 150 clinical trials in CNS over the past 18 years at CNRI. Dr. Tran-Johnson received her education and training from UCLA and USC. She has authored publications as a Resident at USC, as Clinical Faculty/Researcher at the University of Texas, UCSD, and CNRI. Dr. Tran-Johnson has served as a consultant to pharmaceutical companies and been a Signatory Investigator for FDA submissions.
Dr. Christopher Benbow is Board Certified in Psychiatry. He has been a Principal/Sub Investigator in over 75 clinical trials at CNRI. Dr. Benbow received his training from the University of Texas and UCSD. He is currently Chief of Staff at Aurora Behavioral Health (North County). Dr. Benbow is on the Clinical Faculty at UCSD. He has a private practice in La Jolla (Coastal-San Diego).
Dr. Jerry Bobo has been Chief Psychiatrist/Subinvestigator in over 100 clinical trials at CNRI San Diego since 1998. Dr. Bobo practiced OBGYN for 20 years prior to receiving re-training in Psychiatry at UCSD in 1996. He also completed a 3 year Fellowship in PsychoNeuroImmunology at UCSD. Dr. Bobo is currently on Medical Staff at Aurora Behavioral Health (North County), and Paradise Valley/Bay View Hospitals (South County). He has private practices in Del Mar (Coastal-San Diego) and La Mesa (East County).
Dr. James Chen is Medical Director of CNRI - San Diego. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He has been a Principal/Sub Investigator in over 50 clinical trials at CNRI. Dr. Chen received his M.D. and Ph.D. at the Chicago Medical School and the Scripps Mercy Hospital. He is on Medical staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital and Clinics, and Aurora Behavioral Health Hospital.

Dr. Christopher Olonan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He has been a Sub Investigator in over 30 clinical trials at CNRI. Dr. Olonan received his M.D. at UCSD and residency training at the Scripps Mercy Hospital. He currently in on Medical staff at Aurora Behavioral Health and has a private practice in University Heights (downtown San Diego).
Dr. Michael Takamura is Board Certified in Psychiatry. He has been a Sub Investigator in over 30 clinical trials at CNRI. Dr. Takamura received his education and training at Harvard and UCSD. He also completed a post-residency Fellowship at USC. He is currently on Medical Staff at Aurora Behavioral Health, where he was former Outpatient Program Director. Dr. Takamura has a subspecialty of Addiction Medicine and is Medical staff at Kaiser Point Loma (South County). He has a private practice in Poway (North County) and on staff at the Veterans Administration in Mission Valley (Central San Diego).
Thomas Tran, M.S. is Director of Administrative Affairs, CNRI San Diego and Los Angeles. He is in charge of Contracts and Budget and other administrative matters.
Robert Perkovic, B.A. is Senior Project Manager for inpatient studies at CNRI San Diego for over 15 years. He supervises a staff of over 30 and is an integral part of day to day clinical operations at CNRI.
Leah Geyer-Reyes, B.A. is Project Manager for outpatient studies and supervisor at CNRI San Diego for over 5 years.
Los Angeles:
Dr. Raymond Manning is Board certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. He is Psychiatric Medical Director at CNRI Los Angeles. He has been Principal Investigator in over 60 trials at CNRI Los Angeles since 2002. Dr. Manning received his M.D. at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC and Residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. He also completed a 2 year post-Residency Fellowship in Psychiatry at NIMH. Dr. Manning was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center and subsequently at UCLA. He is currently Associate Medical Director at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, and active Medical staff at Aurora Charter Oak Behavioral Health Care. He has been in private practice for over 25 years in the Los Angeles area, and currently in Pico Rivera (same location as the outpatient CNRI research office).
Dr. El-Gabalawy is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He has been Investigator at CNRI Los Angeles since 2006. Dr. El-Gabalawy received his M.D. from the Medical school Cairo University and Residency training in Psychiatry at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois. He also completed a one year Fellowship in Substance Abuse Treatment and Research at the Edward Hines Jr. VA hospital in Illinois. Dr. El-Gabalawy is currently on Medical Staff at Las Encinas Hospital and Huntington East Valley Hospital. He has been working in hospitals and in private practice settings for 20 years. He has a private practice in Pasadena.
Dr. Jacobs has been a Psychiatrist/Sub-Investigator at CNRI Los Angeles since 2004. Dr. Jacobs received his Residency training in Psychiatry at the Louisiana State University. He is currently on Medical staff at Las Encinas Hospital and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center on Medical staff at Las Encinas Hospital and Medical Director at Charter Oak Hospital. He has been working in hospitals and in private practice settings for 20 years. He has a private practice in Los Angeles.
Dr. Shah is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He has been Sub-Investigator at CNRI-Los Angeles since 2006. Dr. Shah received his M.D. from the Medical College M.S. University in India and his Residency training from the Chicago Medical School in Illinois. He has also spent 4 years as an Emergency Room Physician the St. Mary Medical Center in Indiana. Dr. Shah is currently on Medical staff at Las Encinas Hospital, Foothill Presbyterian Hospital and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center.
